Minutes of Branch
meeting held at Stone Police Club 8 pm Thursday 9th January 2003.
There were 34 present
Len and June
Greenfleld, Shirley Everall, Jean Shenton, Tricia Parkes Pat Hawley, Margaret
and Derek Rankin, John and Joan Newby.
Minutes of
previous meeting were read and approved.
The Chairman mentioned
that the trip to China in September was now being investigated with
regard to price etc, and it was hoped that more details will be available at the
next meeting. Mrs. Salt informed the meeting that she had checked the
Travelspere brochure and they came out the cheapest at 1450. The chairman stated
that he would look stall the costings.
The Chairman mentioned
that be would have more details regarding the Rudesheim trip at the next
meeting.
Brian Tunney mentioned
the setting up of a sub committee to organize social events; this matter was
deferred to the next meeting.
The chairman raised the
issue relating to the auditing of accounts by the Region, after discussion it
was agreed that we do not avail ourselves of this service and we continue to
have our accounts audited locally.
The Chairman handed out
a proposed list of dates and events for the 2003 programme. After discussion it
was agreed to adopt the programme. Calendar attached.
The chairman invited
members to put their names forward to supply
the refreshments at each meeting. This was carried out and completed.
together with the list of raffle prize donations.
Treasurer Bob Lea mentioned that the (Christmas meal at lngestrie Golf club was in itself very good, unfortunately there were problems with the organization on, their part, this may well have been because John Newby was not present on the night to liaise with the staff etc. suggesting that we perhaps look for another venue for this Year. Bob suggested that we consider having it at Stone Police Club. This matter was deferred to a future meeting.
Eric
Salt gave a report on the Regional meeting he attended on the 3rd
November 2002, paying particular attention to the comments of the Chairman. Mr.
Bob Smith regarding recruitment. This matter was discussed at some length with
Eric stating that he had tried to contact various police stations and
departments but there appears to be at present overwhelming apathy towards
joining or supporting the IPA. It was agreed to invite the Chairman or his
representative to one of our Meetings to give us the benefit of their advice on
tackling this matter. It was suggested by the Chairman that all the members take
it upon themselves to Canvas support for the IPA from officers they both know or
meet.
Brian
Tunney informed the meeting that he had received an email from Romeo in Malta
wishing everyone happy new year.
