Matters Arising

The Chairman informed the meeting that there had been a change of date for the Rutdesheim trip, the trip would now commence on Thursday 3rd July returning on Tuesday 8th July. This is a very popular time and there are many and varied activities going on including on the 6th July a festival when translated means the Rhine on Fire. We would be spending one night in France or Belgium on the outward trip 3 nights in Germany and one night in France on the way back I am hoping for at least 30 possibly 40. The cost would be 300 per person this would be on a half board basis, including luxury coach travel. A discussion ensued on the picking up points, the chairman stated he would make inquiries with Happy days.

Chairman’s Report

The Chairman then informed the meeting that Staffordshire have now got a web site which is very impressive and we have Alan Cunnington to thank for that, I have received an email from John Spooner who some of you might know, he has now gone to live in Spain and he goes on to say that he has looked at the sight and is delighted to see the familiar names, He also sends his best wishes to all the members of the IPA, and he looks forward to a further read.

The Chairman informed the meeting that he had been looking at the question of Holiday Insurance. At a recent NARPO meeting it was stated that the new insurance year will commence on the 31st March 2003 for the year bringing it in line with the financial year. The Chairman went on to say that he had made inquiries with Markfield who advertise in the Police World and there price is 84 per year which he considers very good value.

Correspondence

There was no correspondence

Any other Business

The Chairman produced a hard copy of the IPA newsletter, which he had taken from their web site. He offered it to the meeting if anyone wanted to read it.

The Chairman indicated that he had received an email from the Regional Chairman Bob Smith as a result of his visit to Us last month the Chairman read the email at length and highlighted two points, 1, That the reason the secretary was not receiving much correspondence from region is because he is not on email

2, That Eric Salt’s report was not wholly accurate, in respect of the levies in

Any case this proposition was withdrawn.

Bob Lea mentioned the trip to the Tower of London for the Annual Church

Service on the 12 July, which was advertised in the IPA magazine, it is free

to get into the Tower. The Chairman invited Brian Tunney to take on the

Arrangements to which he agreed.

Bob Lea mentioned the Christmas Dinner which last year was held at the Ingestre Golf Club, He had made inquiries with the Police Club at Stone and had received a menu which was priced at about £9 which included a disco. He stated that the club can accommodate 56 sitting down, it would be on a first come first served basis. After discussion it was agreed to hold the Christmas dinner at Stone Police Club, the format to be decided at a subsequent meeting.

The Chairman mentioned the meeting at Christopher’s Restaurant in

Tamwortb if there are still members who have not yet booked please contact

Bob Lea as soon as possible.

Brian Tunney informed the meeting that he had received an email from Peterborough stating that there would be 20 to 30 members visiting us, this would depend on the itinerary proposed. He would appreciate a list of the activities we had in mind. Brian would continue the arrangements.

Brian mentioned an article in the Police World from Rudolph Jacob from

South Africa asking if any members of the UK IPA were interested in

visiting the area, which is known as the Golden Triangle. If anyone from this

Branch is interested he is more than willing to investigate further, agreed.

The Chairman produced a copy of our own newsletter, which Alan Cunnington designed; he is prepared to publish occasionally perhaps four times a year. It is for Branch members only. If anyone has any ideas or articles they wish to submit please get in touch directly with Alan. Could everyone who is on email let Alan have them, as it would save on postage etc, after discussion Brian Tunney agreed to give Alan a hand in this most worthwhile venture.

The Chairman asked Ann Corbishley how we stood with the monthly draw; Ann stated that we had about 20 people registered. The Chairman informed the meeting that we need to have about 40 people registered to make the draw viable. The money raised from this draw gives us a little extra to pay for coaches etc.

Date of next meeting Thursday April 10th Subject a talk on Photography.
